How should you prepare for my NEET (Chemistry)? The Ultimate Right way to prepare

Chemistry is a horror for a few and a delight for maximum NEET aspirants.

Mastering chemistry requires you to be good at Cramming, Numerical Solving, Logical Thinking and correlation amongst multiple chapters.

Chemistry is not like biology where you can understand the next chapter without knowing the previous one (in maximum cases) and in physics too there are independent units which could be covered individually ( Like you don’t require the knowledge of fluid mechanics for modern physics but there you require chemistry )

Since Chemistry is divided into 3 parts so each part requires a different strategy

Physical Chemistry- This part is quite scoring in chemistry since easy numericals are asked from this part and unlike physics these are only based on a single concept( Rarely you would encounter tough numericals from physical chemistry in NEET)

  • Mole Concept - This builds the base for your entire physical chemistry. You would require this concept even in Numericals of GOC. Practice a lot of questions from this part since a nice variety of questions are usually asked from this part.
  • Structure of Atom - This chapter is quite theoretical and it has got some easy but extremely calculative numericals. Many concepts from this chapter would be repeated in nuclear physics so prepare it well so that it can reduce your burden in physics.
  • Gas Laws - Direct Formula based questions are asked from this part, just take care of the units at times you may mess up with them.
  • Thermodynamics - In it you just need to cram all the formulas , usually people make mistake in -or+ sign in its numericals to avoid such mistakes you need to be well versed with the concepts of Enthalpy , Entropy and Gibbs Energy.
  • Equilibrium - This chapter send shivers down the spine of many NEET Aspirants. This chapter requires a lot of practice , have a firm grip on basic logarithm , all the formulas should be on your tips.
  • Redox - This is one of the easiest chapter in physical chemistry ,You need to be aware of the oxidation states and the methods to calculate them. You may find the balancing part a bit tough and time consuming but if you practice it well it would become a cakewalk for you.
  • Solid States - This chapter is a bit conceptual , it becomes extremely tough to understand this chapter without visualisation ( You can easily understand certain concepts of this chapter from animated videos on youtube that would help you in visualising concepts )
  • Solutions - You would find this chapter a bit easy since most of the concepts of this chapter would have been taught to you in Mole concept itself. This chapter has got a nice amount of formulas just learn them you would be good to go.
  • Electrochemistry - It has got certain concepts that have already been taught to you in Redox. This chapter has got a nice set of questions so practice very well for this chapter.(Most of the questions are direct formula based but few may seem tricky for solving them you need strong concepts)
  • Chemical Kinetics - In this chapter you need to learn all the graphs well, just carefully notice the unit of rate constant so that you can easily determine the order of reaction and use the appropriate formula for the numerical asked. (Few concepts of this chapter would get repeated in Nuclear physics)
  • Surface Chemistry - This chapter too has got few graphs rest of the chapter is extremely theoretical you just need to revise it multiple times to retain it well.
  • NCERT - For maximum chapters of physical chemistry you just need to read it once or twice fully after that just go through important highlights of that chapter you would be good to go.
  • For chapters of class 12th physical chemistry you need to read NCERT a multiple times since those chapters are on theoretical side.
  • NCERT Examples and Back Exercises - Solving them is quite important since you would find similar questions in NEET , even sometimes they ask the exact question too.
  • Rest for question practice you can rely upon coaching module’s ,NCERT and NCERT Exemplar. (Other than these you can also practice past year JEE Mains questions)

Inorganic Chemistry - Entire Inorganic has limited number of concepts once you understand them well you can easily solve conceptual questions, whereas for factual questions you need to read NCERT thoroughly.

  • Periodic Classification - This chapter would help you build your concepts for entire block chemistry, it has a very limited question bank each year question are asked from them.
  • Chemical Bonding It is the most interesting and conceptual chapter of entire inorganic chemistry , just try to get a good grip over this chapter. Trust me once you master this chapter you would find chemistry a bit easier than before.
  • Block Chemistry - You have to learn everything mentioned in NCERT, the question can arise from any part. Focus more on exceptional trends they are the one which are frequently asked.
  • Metallurgy - You need to have all the examples of this chapter on your tips, memorise Ellingham Diagram and even they frame question from the figures so learn information mentioned in that too.
  • Coordination Compounds - From this chapter generally questions are asked from VBT,MOT, LFT you may get a few questions from nomenclature and isomerism too.

Organic Chemistry - The most interesting part of chemistry is surely organic. It has got a lot of concepts once you understand them organic would be very easy for you.

  • Build your GOC and Hydrocarbon very well they act as a foundation for your class 12th organic.
  • Named Reactions - At least 2 questions are asked from named reactions every year. Note down all of them on a sheet of paper and revise it daily.
  • Conversions - Practice all conversions given in NCERT. Try framing conversions by yourself that would help you retain the reactions for a longer time.
