For all those who are currently preparing (praying simultaneously) for various medical entrance exams and are slightly tensed and confused over what can they do to manage both medical entrance and boards simultaneously, this article is for you. Read on.

Know the Syllabus Well

Candidates must give importance to those topics and sections, which are scoring in nature. The best way to do is to analyze sample papers and previous years’ question papers. It is also better to draw a matrix of chapters as per their weightage. Firstly, complete the syllabus, then focus on topics as per their weightage in the exam. It is futile to devote time on chapters which are of fewer marks. Studying this way helps in scoring well in boards as well as medical exams.

Common Topics

There are many topics in the board and medical exam syllabus that overlap. Identify these topics and mark them out so that once you prepare for them, you do not have to repeat it. Study these topics in such a way that you stay well-prepared for them for both the tests.

Say Goodbye to Dream-Like or Quick-Fix Solutions

The internet is full of quick-fix methods and hacks to prepare for these tests. Don’t fall for them unless you are quite sure about the reliability of the source. Rather than going through search engines, go for dedicated apps and trusted websites . There are many apps/ websites which can help you with mock tests, immediate feedback, expert recommendations and identifying the concepts that you are weak in.

Plan the Next Few Months

From now on till you finish both your medical as well as board exams, maintain a planned schedule and stick to it. Devote different time slots for studies of medical as well as board exams. This will ensure that you are paying attention to both. Don’t try to overcompensate if you have missed some slots.

Mock Tests

Mock tests help develop a time management strategy and recognize your weak areas. It is important to get an idea of the actual question paper before appearing for the exam, and these mock tests help a lot of with that. With the help of technology, you can take mock tests to get familiarized with the pattern of the examination and know the level of your preparation. It also helps you know your strength and weakness, so you can focus more on the weak and difficult topics.

Prepare a daily/weekly/monthly timetable

Stick to the NCERT textbooks and solve every problem possible. While going through the lessons make two types of notes (a)Concise (b)Elaborate. You can use mind mapping technique as well.

Revision

Revision should be done every week if you are targeting 90+. Practice tests are more important than mugging up of lessons. Numerous practice tests/previous papers/sample papers are available. You should do plenty of them without any excuse. Set proper time say 3hours and ask everybody not to disturb you for the time span. Give these exam with utmost seriousness and honesty. Check your answers and grade them. Evaluate yourself based on the quality and quantity of answers. Improve upon those fault lines visible in your answers.

Effort

Give your maximum effort to each and every subject and try to gather as many resources (books/internet/teachers/friends/parents/well-wishers) as you can during this time. NEET can wait but boards cant. There are enough number of chances for NEET. But once you are done with board then its done. So prioritize properly and run to your study table, open the subject you like the least and start reading. Best wishes form my side.
