11 WAYS TO INCREASE YOUR MEMORY POWER!!!

We all want to improve our memory power so that we can study well and remember more things that we spend time on.  But Sometimes it feels impossible to remember everything. Between the Bernoulli's theorem, Organic Reactions, and the life cycle of the pteridophytes, how do you keep it all in your head?

Here's a post which will help you to remember things efficiently. The goal here is to better encode information into your long-term memory.


1. Focus Your Attention

Attention is one of the major components of memory. Start off with choosing a study spot where your focus can rest fully on the task. A quiet room with good lighting is best for reading. Try to study in a place free of distractions such as television, music, and other diversions. Getting rid of distractions might be a challenge, especially if you are surrounded by noisy children.



2. Avoid Marathon Session

Studying materials over a number of sessions give you the time you need to process the information. Studying regularly over number of sessions will help than a single marathon session. Don't wait for the end. Start your preparations analyzing time and syllabus. 



3. Organize

Content in organised form will be easy to memorize than cluster of information. You can take advantage of this by structuring and organizing the materials you're studying. Try grouping similar concepts and terms together, or make an outline of your notes and textbook readings to help group related concepts. Make mind maps, self written notes or may be notes in your regional language.



4. Keep calm

Stress decreases your ability to encode. When you’re stressed, your body releases stress hormones like cortisol. Cortisol has been shown to greatly impair the brain’s memory process,  Anything you do to relax and reduce stress can and likely will help your memory.


5. Meditation

Meditation is one of the best ways to improve your focus, as it is the mental training of your attention. Meditation can increase blood flow in the brain and improve memory. It is relaxing and soothing, and has been found to reduce stress and pain, lower blood pressure and even improve memory.


6. Visualize 

Try to involve your most senses. Close your eyes and think about the sequence of events. Pay attention to the photographs, charts, and other graphics in your textbooks. Draw your own Draw charts or figures in the margins of your notes or use highlighters or pens in different colors to group related ideas in your written study materials.



7. Read Out Loud

Use this approach in your own studies by teaching new concepts and information to a friend or study partner. Repeat what you hear out loud. Try using it in a sentence. Write it down and read it aloud.



8. Don't run away from Difficult Information

Difficult information are the areas of maximum scoring opportunity. It is so because along with you others are too finding it difficult. If with extra inputs you study that topic, that topic will eventually be the difference between you and all.   try restructuring what you have learned so it will be easier to remember. When you come across an especially difficult concept, devote some extra time to memorizing the information.


9. Proper sleep

Sleep is important for memory and learning. Getting enough sleep every night and maintaining as regular a sleep and wake time as possible will take you miles toward a better memory.
